Self-Realization
“This being human is a guest house.
Every morning a new arrival.
A joy, a depression, a meanness, some momentary awareness comes as an unexpected visitor.
Welcome and entertain them all! Even if they’re a crowd of sorrows, who violently sweep your house empty of its furniture, still, treat each guest honorably.
They may be clearing you out for some new delight.
The dark thought, the shame, the malice, meet them at the door laughing, and invite them in.
Be grateful for whoever comes, because each has been sent as a guide from beyond.”

Indigenous and Ancient Wisdom
If you were depressed, disheartened, or dispirited and went to shaman, medicine man, or a healer in many of the indigenous cultures of the world they would ask you these questions:
"When in your life did you stop singing?" - when did you lose your soul, or voice of your own truth?
"When did you stop dancing?" - when did you lose connection to your body? backbone (courage), funny bone (sense of humor), wish bone (dreams and desires), hollow bone (the body that resonates with the vibration of life).
"When did you stop being enchanted with stories, and particularly your own life story?" - what are your favorite stories , what stories do you pass on to the next generation or others? Stories are healing teaching art. Stories transmit values, tradition, beliefs, and memories.
"When did you start being uncomfortable with the sweet territory of silence?" - Silence is recognized by all the cultures of the world as the place we can connect to the mystery for contemplation and reflection in our own solitude. Silence and Nature are soul food. Time to listen to the inherent wisdom, and the guidance within.
They also ask on daily basis:
"Is the good true and beautiful in my nature as strong as the whispers of the daemons and the monsters?" - Is my self worth as strong as my self critic? Do we feed gourmet meals to our self worth, and starve our self critic? We need to answer YES everyday to be connected to our creative fire within.
Reconstructing the True
Our organic self (our true self) is wise, calm, curios, courageous, creative, and connected to others, nature/environment, and what we do. At the core we are intrinsically healthy and whole.
Our work is to return to our organic self.
Our beliefs system is organized by core beliefs and determines our sense of self in the physical world. These beliefs are based on our experiences (Samskaras) in life, predominantly formed at early childhood. Often painful past experiences or family histories social and religious influences are present. They influence our beliefs and our strategies in our state of being and how we respond to external events in this world and our relationships.
At times, challenges feel significant and threatening. We might feel insecure, confused, stressed, disoriented, scared, overwhelmed or even anxious and depressed. Our stories around them are unique and strongly influenced by what we believe about ourselves and the world. These limiting core beliefs might be: “I’m not good enough,“ “I’m not lovable,” “I can never let my guard down,” “I can’t express how I really feel,” “life is a struggle I must endure,” “I can’t trust anyone,” “my needs don’t matter.” How did these beliefs form and how can we "truly surrender" and let go of that which no longer serves our greater good?
We are compelled to mistake those beliefs for the truth and react when we are activated by some external event, outside of our control, and without having a choice of response. Once we learn to meet ourself with love, kindness, and compassion we will start to experience the freedom and power of choice and begin to reconstruct our Organic self, heal generations past, present and future. We create a new state of being that is in alignment with our true self. This alignment brings us into a state of greater joy, fulfillment, love, compassion, pleasure, connection, intimacy, peace, power, and sovereignty (freedom to be who we truly are) in our lives and relationships. We call this state of being Embodied Self Realization.
True Essence of Freedom
Freedom is an illusive term. In its greatest form it is liberation from the prison of limiting beliefs, stories, fears and self judgements that don't serve us and are the cause of our struggles in life. It is a state of being, doing and having that is in alignment with our true self and living our heart's desire fully, and having our needs met. The path to freedom is through reconnection with our true and organic self (the truth), feeling safe, loved, being seen, heard, understood, respected, appreciated and expressing ourselves freely.
It is a journey in which we seek the truth, love and nurture the good and beautiful in our nature as well as acknowledge, accept and make friends with the daemons and monsters within. A journey in which we nurture and strengthen our self worth, and surrender judgement and the self critic. Truth and Love Liberate! And Love is letting go of fear.
It is a journey in which we learn how to surrender to the events in life, unburden the past, and let go of the stories, attachments, and fears that have held us back from living our heart's and soul's desires fully. It is one in which we connect to the creative fire within (our life force/Eros) with the wisdom of our heart. It is about becoming self-full so we can give to others.
By accessing our innate creative force, wisdom and knowledge, deep healing and growth become possible. We create situations in our lives where our resources exceed the demands on them, and enter into a creative state of being (state of abundance).
We must follow our creative instinct for the sake of our healing and for connecting to our life force. Expressing ourselves freely without hiding, not making ourself small or putting on an act (the mask) is the true essence of being free. We will have the capacity to hold both our darkness and our light with compassion, and in that we become whole. We become All.
The Journey
One of the most worthwhile journey's to undertake for us all, is the journey from living in the head to living from the heart. From living in the past or future to being in the here and now. Such a short distance and yet the longest journey we'll make!
"Come, seek
for seeking is the foundation of fortune:
every success depends upon focusing the heart.
Unconcerned with the business of the world,
keep saying with all your soul, “Ku, ku,” like the dove…
Even though you’re not equipped,
keep searching…
Whoever you see engaged in search,
become their friend and cast your head in front of them,
for choosing to be a neighbor of seekers,
you become one yourself…
Day and night you are a traveler in a ship.
You are under the protection of a life-giving spirit…
Step aboard the ship and set sail,
like the soul going towards the soul’s Beloved.
Without hands or feet, travel toward Timelessness
just as spirits flee from non-existence.
…By God, don’t linger
in any spiritual benefit you have gained,
but yearn for more like one suffering from illness
whose thirst for water is never quenched…
Leave the seat of honor behind:
the Journey is your seat of honor."
